Richard “Rich” Liebman, Jr, 85, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on November 25th, 2025. Born on January 6th, 1940, to Richard Liebman, Sr. and Alice Winston, Rich grew up in Preston Hollow. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, Rich was an American Studies major at The University of Pennsylvania, where he developed a lifelong love of literature and modern art. On the weekends, frequent trips to the nightclubs of New York deepened his love for jazz, as he enjoyed shows by Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, and Charles Mingus.

In 1961, he married Marion Victor of Dallas and graduated from Penn the following year. He moved back to Dallas and worked in advertising sales at the Bloom Agency. He and Marion had 3 children, Alice, Eric, and Julie. After their divorce, he worked as a stockbroker at Bache, where he met Ruthine Doss, the love of his life, with whom he moved to San Francisco in 1974. The following year, Rich proposed by asking if Ruthie wanted to combine record collections. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. In 1979, they had twin boys, Matthew and Jeremy. Rich continued to develop his passion for photography, and in 1985, the family moved back to Dallas, where he opened a photographic portrait studio. Later in his life, he worked as a proofreader at the Richards Group and developed a deep love for yoga and his cat Maggie.

Rich loved wine, spirits, cheese, chocolate, and food of all kinds. He and Ruthie loved to travel, visiting Greece, Italy, and Jamaica, along with frequent trips to New York and San Francisco to visit their children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Ruthine Liebman, his brother Eddie Liebman and wife Linda Liebman, his daughter Alice Liebman Angier and husband Robb Angier, his son Eric Victor Liebman and wife Yolanda Liebman, his daughter Julie Liebman Presnall and husband Craig Presnall, his son Matthew Liebman and wife Salena Copeland, his son Jeremy Liebman and partner Victoria Hely-Hutchinson; grandchildren Adleigh, Emory, Hailey, Peyton, Myra, Felix, Vivienne, and Clementine, and his cat Lily.

His friends and family will remember him for his kind heart, witty sense of humor, and thoughtful demeanor. He will be deeply missed and always in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Rich’s memory to Operation Kindness, an animal rescue organization.
