Sarah Lou Barnes

She was born in Louisiana on January 12, 1931, and she graduated from Gilmer High School in Gilmer, Texas in 1949.

She met the love of her life, Billy Edwin Barnes, on a blind date on June 19, 1951, while she was attending Baylor Nursing School in Dallas, and they were married on November 28, 1951.

Sarah gave up her dream of being a nurse and devoted herself to being a wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother.

She was preceeded in death by her son, Joe Edwin Barnes, and she is survived by her husband, Billy Edwin Barnes; her daughter, Theresa Faye Carter; her grandchildren, Michael Edwin Carter, Crystal Lee Carter Kirby, Amanda Lynn Carter Taylor, Adam Dallas Barnes, and Andrew Barnes; her great-grandchildren, Colton Ray Kirby, Raylee Paige Kirby, Camryn Lee Carter, and Peyton Lynn Taylor; and her sister, Billie Hill.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home, 1029 South Greenville Avenue, Richardson, Texas, with a reception for friends and family in her honor thereafter at the Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home.
