Stephen Leroy Austin

Stephen L Austin, age 73, went to be with our Lord Sunday, February 7, 2016, after battling Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was a proud Navy veteran and a Texas A&M graduate with a Bachelors degree in Science. Stephen’s career highlight was teaching at Katy High School, then later spending over twenty-five years as a machinist. He appreciated spending time with his family, loved classic cars, enjoyed watching Nascar, football and westerns. Stephen was an honorable and devoted Aggie.

Preceded in death by his father Arthur Austin, mother Theresa Maass Austin and niece Melanie Puffer. Survived by his son Rick Austin and wife Judy; daughter Debbie Mathis and husband Jeff; son Stephen Austin II and wife Miho; son Royce Austin and wife Sally; grandchildren Amanda, Megan, Aaron, Chandler, Justin, Kyla, Sarah, Asher, Leo and Elise; sister Wanda Puffer and husband John; sister Ruby Kettenhofen and husband Bill; brother Stanley Austin; brother Ray Austin, Sr. and wife Kathy; sister Wanez Hill; nieces Sheryl, Dawn, Julie, Deanna and Kim; nephews Brian and Ray, Jr.

Memorial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, February 26, 2016, at 1:00 pm, located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the American Lung Association in memory of Stephen Austin.
