Roberta W. Whaley, born March 19, 1942, passed away in her home on September 20, 2019 from a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodolph Marion Whaley, Sr and Burma Dell Cox Whaley and her brother, Rodolph Whaley, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Nolan R. Whaley and three daughters – Robin Whaley, Regina Scribner (Chris Scribner) and Rebecca Jones (Al Jones). Her grandchildren are Jeremy Pittman, Lane and Sydney Scribner and Isaac Land. She is also survived by two sisters – Jinnell Hawkins and Carol Tripp (John Tripp). She will be remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to many. She retired as a teacher assistant in 2008, where she served in Onslow County for many years. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am, September 24, 2019 at Community Christian Church in Richlands, North Carolina. She will be buried at the Community Christian Church cemetery and visitation with the family will follow at the church. We thank God for her life, her family and friends that were so special to her. Roberta and I were classmates and friends in high school. We lost touch and I am sad to learn of her passing.
