Alice Stewart Beattie Waddell Angel, age 101, died peacefully at home August 10, 2019.
She was born June 30, 1918, a daughter of Robert McAllister Beattie and Mary Alice Holland Beattie.
Alice was born, raised and lived her life in Richmond, Virginia. She loved life and found great joy in her family. Her enthusiasm for people and their lives, whether family, old friends or new friends, made them feel loved and appreciated. She enjoyed reading, music and adventure. She loved the beach, traveling, and trying the next new thing. As a seventy-year member of First Baptist Church, Richmond, Alice loved her Sunday School class, the Sanctuary Choir and the JOY Singers. She was an avid UNC-Chapel Hill basketball fan.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel R. Waddell and A. Wilson Angel as well as nine brothers and sisters.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Molly Waddell Gudger; son, Samuel R. "Dickie" Waddell, Jr.; grandsons, Dr. Christopher Gudger (Jana) and David Gudger; great-granddaughter, Emory Alice Gudger; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
