Allene Harrison Taylor

Allene Harrison Taylor of Midlothian passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015. She was Born December 14, 1921 in Halifax, North Carolina to Henry Spooner Harrison Jr. and Elizabeth Cawthorne Harrison. She was a 1942 graduate of Salem College. She began her teaching career in Scotland Neck, NC then taught in Fayetteville, NC where she met and married Haywood Weldon Taylor Jr. on August 12, 1950. They then moved to Rocky Mount, NC where her 2 children Haywood Weldon Taylor III and Elizabeth Harrison Taylor were born.

In 1958 the family moved to Alexandria, VA where she continued her teaching career for 40 years. While in Alexandria she was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church she was active in the Alter Guild. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Alexandria Hospital and a former member of the colonial dames. After retirement they moved to Brandermill Woods Retirement Community in 1999.

She survived by her son Haywood Weldon Taylor III and his wife Kathy. Their daughter Elizabeth Taylor Catlett and husband Kenneth. She is also survived by her two most precious grandchildren Brain Patrick Taylor and his wife Victoria and granddaughter Kaitlin Slade Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband Haywood Weldon Taylor, her parents and two brothers Henry Spooner Harrison and Harry Cawthorne Harrison.
