OBITUARY

Anne Marie Stephens

29 July, 1956 – 26 June, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Woody Funeral Home-Parham

Anne Marie Stephens, loving Mother, Meemaw, and friend, passed comfortably and peacefully in Richmond, VA on June 26, 2025 with two of her children, Stephens and Caroline Paige, by her side. Anne was born on July 29, 1956 to Fredrique Stephens (von Krusenstierna) and Robert Stephens and she later became a big sister to Robert, her beloved younger brother. She lived her formative years in Arlington, VA and made lasting friends from her years there in school. She went on to graduate from Elon College.

Her three beautiful children, William, Stephens, and Paige, were her everything. In addition to being a mother, she made her career at La Petite Academy caring for young children. Anne lived with cancer for many years, yet she refused to let it define or limit her. Along with cancer, Anne endured other significant trials including the loss of her first child, William. However, she steadfastly lived with joy and love, focusing on that in her life to be thankful for and to celebrate. Anne, shed not a single tear during her waning weeks, stating with conviction she had a child, and beloved parents waiting for her in heaven

She is survived by her brother Robert (Audry) Stephens, children Stephens (Elizabeth Verrecchia) Schaefer and their children Reid and Margaret Anne, Caroline Paige (Joseph) Furey and their children Isabelle and Gabrielle.

One of Anne’s favorite phrases was, “It’s not that serious." Anne would not want us to be sad, but to follow her example and lightheartedly, but diligently, celebrate the good in our lives. Anne will be buried privately at Westhampton Memorial Park alongside her infant son, William. A celebration of her life will be held at Willow Oaks Country Club in late July on her birthday.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
