C. James "Jim" Durante Jr.

C. James “Jim” Durante, Jr., of Glen Allen, Virginia, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He courageously battled metastatic colon cancer for four years. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Betty (Hulings) Durante. Jim’s survivors include his loving wife, Peggy Durante; his children, Mark Durante and wife, Ali Gladwin; Kerry Smith; Anthony “Tony” Durante and wife, Andrea Mihalcea; and Rebecca Durante; grandchildren, Alexis, Aden and Lily Smith, Jourdan Fear, and Ethan Durante; five great-grandchildren; and his beloved sister Diana Estremera and her husband Ron. Jim attended Boston College for two years and the University of Baltimore for one year. He was in the construction business for over 50 years, spending the last 25 as a general contractor with Loudin Building Systems which he co-owned with his partner Howard Loudin. Jim actively attended Lifepoint Church. He was a member of the Gideons. He belonged to a Christian Bible Study and Discipleship group Ordinary Men. Jim loved animals, particularly dogs which he seemed to “find” and bring home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA, with Pastor Gerald Hackett presiding. Flowers and plants are welcome to be given in his memory.
