Doris S. Leonard

Leonard, Doris S. of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home at Westminster Canterbury on February 16, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late William and Sarah Speakman. Doris was an accomplished individual who earned her degree in Business before beginning her long and dedicated career with The E.I. DuPont Company. As an Executive Secretary, she devoted more than 35 years of loyal service, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues.

Throughout her life, Doris and her husband, Dr. Charles Arthur Leonard, were actively involved in their church and the community where they resided. They found great joy in traveling together and spending cherished moments with friends and family. Doris was widely known and deeply loved by many who had the privilege of knowing her.

Doris was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, Dr. Charles Arthur Leonard, her brother William Speakman, and her sisters, Mary Speakman and Elaine Speakman Doll Zinchuck. She is lovingly remembered by her nephews, Kim Speakman, Sr.(Lisa), John Doll (Gwen), and Arthur Dawson (Pam); her nieces, Roberta Chabalko (John), Mary Dawson (Nat), Barbara Dawson, and Dorothy Hall (Jon); as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

A private family service will be held at a later date at the All Saint’s Episcopal Church Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Road, Richmond, Virginia 23229, in memory of Doris.
