

Edythe Lytton Vores passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin Lytton and May DeHart Lytton, as well as her beloved husband, Gordon Vores.
Edythe was born in Blacksburg, Virginia, 9th out of 10 children where she attended Blacksburg High School. A dedicated and spirited student, she played basketball and graduated at the remarkable age of 16. After moving to Richmond, Virginia, she met the love of her life, Gordon Vores, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and service. She was an active and devoted member of Bethlehem Baptist Church followed by West End Assembly of God, where her faith guided her throughout her life. Edythe also gave generously of her time and leadership through her involvement in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving in all positions and ultimately as Worthy Matron.
A lifelong learner and a woman of determination, Edythe returned to college after both of her daughters had graduated from college and earned her nursing license. She went on to serve as a committed and compassionate nurse, dedicating herself to caring for others until her retirement.
Years after the passing of her husband, Edythe moved to Marietta, Georgia, where she lived with her family and continued to share her warmth, wisdom, and love until her death.
Edythe will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Kim Vores and Mary Ellen (Vores) Mayer and her husband, Ted. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Matthew Mayer and Elizabeth
Mayer, who brought her immense joy. She also held a special place in her heart for her grand dog, Jack. Edythe’s life was defined by her unwavering love for her family, her deep faith, and her
commitment to serving others. Her kindness, resilience, and gentle spirit will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her. Her memory will be cherished forever.
