Betty Bullen MacDonald, was born July 15, 1915 as Elizabeth Phillips and she died on December 7, 2010. Our mom lived life to the fullest. She married the man of her dreams, our dad, not once, but twice. She had us, Anne Louise Bullen (Mary), and Phillips Ross Bullen (Lin). She taught us how to build boats, dig clams and dream big. At 60 years of age, she saw us water skiing and said, "I want to do that." We put her on two skis, took off, she popped up and immediately dropped one ski and off she went, "a piece of cake." There was nothing she wouldn't try and she was good at everything. All except cooking, didn't like it, and trust us, not good at it, but we all have at least one weakness, don't we. She loved her two beers at night, always one at 5 p.m. She loved line dancing, swimming, played a mean hand of Pinochle (usually won) and Bingo. Her brain was off the chart with bookkeeping and she could do math in her head, but as fate would have it, Alzheimer's grabbed her and totally took over. Even at 95 years of age, she only took one thyroid pill and was healthy as a horse. Her body was there, but the spirit was gone. Every day she would ask, "Can I die now?" God finally heard her prayers and when I told her she could go, she left so fast she lost a few angel feathers on the way. She felt like she had won the lottery that day, so thank you, God. (We know you have been a little busy). Mom, say hi to Dad, and who knows maybe the third time will be the charm. You know the old saying, "A match made in heaven," well, you know the rest. Have fun with Louise (your sister) "put your feet in the sand, yourself in a chair, and pop the top of a cold one." Have a great time 'til we see you again. P.S. Mary wants to thank you for letting her care for you the last 10 years. It was her privilege and honor. She will miss you playing with her hair. ~Love from all of us, Anne and Mary, Phil and Lin.
