MARKEL, George V., 90, of Glen Allen, born in Akron, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 1, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ruth Markel. George was a WWII Army veteran, serving our country in Germany-Battle of the Bulge/Infantry. He is survived by his three children, George R. Markel (Carol), Nancy J. Smith (Chet) and James E. Markel (Debbie); nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren. George was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, 23229. His funeral service will be held at 11am Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Rd., Glen Allen, Virginia 23059. Interment Mt.Vernon Memorial Park.
