

Harold Edward “Skeebo” Lucas, 90, loving husband, devoted father and admired grandfather, was called to Heaven on August 15, 2012 while surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marion, seven years ago.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie L. Harvey; his son, Donald E. Lucas and wife Karen, all of Richmond, VA; two granddaughters, Kelly L. Harvey of New York City, NY, and Katherine A. Harvey of New Orleans, LA.
Born and raised in Richmond, he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and completed a year of prep school at Benedictine. While at Benedictine, he was selected as All-City while playing left halfback on the Cadets football team.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. From 1942 to 1945, he served with the Second Division, USMC, in the Pacific Theater, where he was part of the initial assaults at Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa.
Upon returning from the war, he enrolled at Virginia Tech, completed his studies in Business, and became a lifelong Hokie.
He was a member of Hermitage Country Club and was active in the Senior Men’s Golf Association. He enjoyed playing golf with his family and visiting courses around Virginia with his friends. Being a great cook, he enjoyed preparing family dinners, especially during the holidays. Above all he was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed.
He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road, Sunday, August 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Road, Richmond, Virginia, Monday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
