I just ran across this today....I am happy to know that Mr Warren had a long life. My condolences to Bill, Nick, June, and Fleet.

Harold and my father were good friends.  I shall always remember playing in your yard and sandbox as a child.  I missed all of you when we were no longer neighbors.  My condolences to your family, Bill, Nick, Fleet and Randy.

As a third generation in-law, I was always made to feel so welcome at large Warren family gatherings.  I attribute that to Granddad, partly to the warm hug he would give me and the stories he would share with me, but also to the way in which the rest of the Warren family followed his lead.  It became clear to me early on that Harold was an amazing man as evidenced by the kind, generous and loving family that he raised.  I was not so fortunate to have grown up with a grandfather of my own, so Harold will always hold a special place in my heart.  I feel blessed to have known him and I will miss him dearly.

I grew up next door to the Warren family as a child and remember how great the entire family was. Harold and Martha were loving and caring to all the neighborhood kids. When Harold let out his "whistle" blast we all knew it was time to come home. There are so many childhood memories I cherish of the family. My condolences to Bill, Nick, June, Fleet and Randy. He lived a good life and on his own terms. I will miss him.

My sisters and I used to enjoy visits from Harold &Martha when we were children in Emporia. Our parents were friends of theirs in their "early" years. I feel fortunate to have been acquainted with Harold and enjoyed fishing with him and listening to him talk about his WWII experiences. Harold served his God, his family, and his country with distinction.

Harold, I have been "in your family" since I was 16 years old...that's 49 years....you not only got me one of my first jobs --at your VDOT office as a  secretary, but you also picked me up every morning at my parent's home and took me to and from work with you those summers. When I left that job to go to college after two summers with you, you presented me with a bottle of Chanel No. 5 perfume you had bought yourself.I had already fallen for your son June, but I thank (or blame) you for marrying him. How could I possibly go wrong marrying a boy who had been sired by you?  You treated me as my own father did...always making me feel comfortable, welcomed, accepted, and most of all, loved. You fulfilled my expectations by giving June all your wonderful attributes...loyalty, kindness, a caring and trustworthy heart, diligence in work, and most of all, love of family and God and country.  These attributes you leave behind on this earth in the form of all your five children, their children, and their children's children until each of us join you and our beloved Martha again. So this day we will not be sad but rejoice in you and the life you have so gallantly led and by example, taught us what was really important in this life. Love, Becky
