Matkins, Howard Thomas, 56, of Henrico, VA, formerly of Graham, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2014. He is preceded in death by his mother, Blenda P. Matkins. He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Gail; two sons, Robert and Andrew; father, Thomas; brothers; Carlton (Denise) and James (Suzanne); and nieces and nephews, Carlton, Steven, and Emmanuel Matkins and Erin and Emily Brooks. Howard loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing, but his greatest passion was football. He excelled as a defensive tackle, guard, and center for Graham High School in Graham, NC. Howard volunteered his time and talent for many years filming games for Douglas Freeman, T.J., and Glen Allen High Schools. A devoted father and loving husband, Howard will be missed by so many dear friends and family. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
