ANDERSON, Isabel Griffin Anderson was born on July 9, 1915 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of Hunnewell Griffin and his wife Isabel, née Watson. Orphaned by the 1918 influenza epidemic, she was warmly embraced by the John Henry Reeves family, and then, after her 1946 marriage to William Henry Anderson of Halifax, Virginia, by his numerous family, as tight-knit as it was far-flung. She expended her considerable organizational talent on her true vocation, that of homemaker; but also brought it to bear as an active member of the Memorial Methodist and Huguenot Methodist Churches, and as a decades-long volunteer for The Hermitage, where she also spent her later years.
Survivors include one son, William Griffin Anderson of Zurich, Switzerland; a daughter-in-law Kristina Bayer Anderson of Hamburg, Germany; two grandsons, Andreas T. Anderson of Van Nuys, California and Mathias M. Anderson of Nairobi, Kenya; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Woody Funeral Home - Parham, 1771 North Parham Road. A graveside funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Dale Memorial Park, Chesterfield, followed by a 2:00 p.m. memorial service at The Hermitage, 1600 Westwood Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Hermitage Methodist Home.
