

Plageman, John E. Jr., of Henrico County peacefully passed away on June 22, 2016. He was 72 years old. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 51 years, Carol J. Plageman; two children Tracey (Mike) Ward and John (Rae) Plageman III; three granddaughters, Ashley Layell, Shelby Guest and Lindsey Guest, one grandson, Zak Plageman; two great-grandsons Brintley and Brayden Layell, his brother Jimmy (Linda) Plageman, his sister-in-law Peggy Plageman, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and close friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Hazel Plageman, his sister Jackie Warren and her husband Joe, and his brother Wayne Plageman.
Johnny was a pipefitter for Philip Morris USA at the Manufacturing Center for 27 years. He spent many years as the Union Chief Steward for the International Association of Machinists Local Lodge #10. Johnny was very active with the Union, participating in many labor negotiations and conferences. He dedicated many long hours representing the members of the union and their concerns. He was dedicated to the Union as well as the company. He made several trips to the state capital’s General Assembly in Richmond to support or fight for the rights of the industry. Even while representing the Union, Johnny would volunteer for Philip Morris sponsored community projects. He was also an officer on the Local Lodges’ Executive Board for several years as Financial Secretary.
