

Margaret Anne “Maggie” Gillispie Leftwich of Richmond, 80, passed away on April 10, 2015. She was born on September 8, 1934 in LaCrosse, Va. to Lucy and Chester Gillispie. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hensley Leftwich, and her siblings, James and Chester Gillispie, Mozelle Ridout, Florine Moore and Elizabeth Harper. She is survived by her three children, Brent William Leftwich and grandchildren Zeke and Tess Leftwich, and Tara Chavis; Melissa Gail Leftwich, son-in-law George Cole and grandson Quinn Cole; Melanie Anne Stokes, son-in-law Scotty Stokes and grandchildren Sydney and Cody Stokes. Maggie was an outgoing, funny, kind, devoted Christian who enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, setback, going out to eat and traveling with her incredibly close circle of friends. Maggie was sincerely loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was highly-valued during her working career that included employment at Thalhimer’s Department Store in Regency Square, Virginia Commonwealth University’s Office of the President and the Virginia General Assembly. Due to her extensive knowledge of state government and Virginia history, Maggie conducted tours of the Virginia Senate. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 6-8:00 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home at 1771 North Parham Road in Richmond, Va. Funeral services will be held at Woody Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
