

Hyman, Mary Jane Todd, widow of Edward Wheatley Hyman, died at her home on September 25, 2012. She was born November 19, 1923, the only child of the late Roy and Lottie Todd. A lifelong Richmonder, she is survived by her three sons, Edward Todd Hyman of Virginia Beach, Roy Clay Hyman and Christian Lee Hyman of Richmond; a daughter, Wheatley Hyman Gibb of Vero Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces; two nephews; a son and daughter in law.
She attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Mary Washington College. A very active volunteer at The Cerebral Palsy Center, Meals on Wheels and St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. “Janie” enjoyed tennis and golf at The Hermitage Country Club, The Westwood Club, and the family home at Horse Point on the Piankatank River. She led a life full of energy, personality and never ending humor. She loved to party, laugh and dance. The door was always open at the Hymans’ home, and she leaves behind friends of all ages who will miss her greatly. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to all of those who have supported and cared for “Janie” over the years.
A visitation for friends will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Westhampton Memorial Park.
