Odes Ray King, 72, died from complications of pneumonia on December 1st, 2023. He was born on June 19, 1951, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Odes is preceded in death by his mother, Ella Mae King, his brother, Melvin King, and sisters, Janie Moore and Hazel Creech. He is survived by his partner, John Childress, two sisters, Helen Smith and Arlene Poston, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Odes worked on the print line and designed church offering envelopes at The Coliseum-Duplex Envelope Company in Richmond, Virginia. He later worked at Paper’s by Patty Paul, designing wedding invitations. Odes loved showing his Yorkies and his antique cars. He spent many hours washing both dogs and cars on the weekends. As per Odes’ request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
