She was my grandmother for fifty years. Grandma was such a big part of my childhood. When I was sick or just having trouble going to sleep, Grandma would write a word or draw a picture with her finger on my back and I would try to figure out what it was. Because I was allergic to milk, she always had frozen peaches and/or strawberries for me when others had ice cream. We spent a lot of hours fishing, playing cards, and swinging on the porch together. She never complained as I banged away on the piano keys for hours—yet never learned to play. She was always up for fun. I miss the way she called me "Ahcha" and "dahlin'" and the sound of her contagious laugh. I am so grateful and fortunate to have been loved and cared for by her. Thank you, Grandma. I love you.
