

HEDRICK, Sherwin David, 79, of Henrico County, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 24, 2018. He was born April 9, 1938. He is survived by his wife, Helen Major Hedrick, stepson, Maurice L. Major and wife, Nancy, of Olympia, Wash.; and stepdaughter, Diane L. Major. He is also survived by two step-grandchildren, Zoe Major and Leah Major of Olympia, Wash. Mr. Hedrick was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae White Hedrick; three brothers, Floyd Dudley, John William, James Ralph; and one sister, Helen H. Williams. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 until 1961, of which three years were spent in Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Hedrick retired from the County of Henrico Data Processing Department in 1997 after 30 years service. He was a member of Derbyshire Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, church treasurer and financial secretary, usher and a member of the Chancel and Golden Tones choirs. He also has served as a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital for 11 years. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Westhampton Memorial and Cremation Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond.
