Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Jean Jackmowski, and his brother, John Jackmowski.
He is survived by his loving wife, Amanda Jackmowski; his stepchildren, Crystal McLaughlin (David) and Randy Allen (Amy); his brother, Jim Jackmowski (Dana); and his twin sister, Patsy. Steve also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Peyton Pinkston (Jacob), Alexandra McLaughlin, Kimber Allen, Kenley Grace Allen, and Kannon Reed Allen, along with his first great-grandson, Callahan Gatewood Pinkston in which Steve vowed to call him “Gates”.
Steve was an easygoing man whom you rarely saw upset or bothered. He remained calm through life’s ups and downs and was seldom angered. He was a simple man who enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially cheering on Jeff Gordon, as well as rooting for the New York Yankees and the Washington Redskins.
He enjoyed bowling in a league with good friends, spending time at the grill, and relaxing with an ice-cold beer. Most importantly, Steve loved animals and had many beloved dogs throughout the years. He was always the one sneaking treats and food from his plate to his fur babies and fur grandbabies, no matter how many times he was told not to. He truly had a huge soft spot for animals and loved them deeply.
Steve was known by many for his quick wit and playful banter, especially with those he loved most. Over the years, he built many friendships that became family in his heart.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held at Woody Funeral Home 1771 North Parham Road, on Friday, July 31st, at 12:00 noon.
