

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, his daughter, son-in-law, five grandchildren, his nephew and their family as well as many extended family members.
Born on January 29, 1947, Stewart was a lifelong resident of Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with an Associate of Science Degree in Architectural Drafting and Design. Stewart was a brother of Phi Delta Omega fraternity. He worked in the painting industry with Lane Brothers and N. Chasen and Son, and was a member and former president of the local chapter of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America.
Stewart was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who was a member of Grove Avenue Baptist Church for many years, serving as an usher, ministering to children within the AWANA program and a faithful member of the Men's Ministry. He served on the school board of Grove Christian School and was bestowed the title of Chairman Emeritus in 2001. He also attended Berea Baptist Church and was active in his sunday school class.
He loved to sail, racing catamarans with his wife, water skiing, snow skiing, racquetball, camping, fishing, gardening, spending time at the beach, eating seafood, and playing with his grandchildren.
Stewart was known for his gentle spirit, kindness, memorable smile, steady nature, and was a rock for his family and friends. His laughter, devotion, love, and presence will be missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held April 2nd 2026 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. in Richmond, VA. A graveside will be held on Friday April 3rd at 1 PM at Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 78 Gala Loop in Eagle Rock, VA.
