O'Nell Haseltine Obituary
HASELTINE, O'Nell, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
She is survived by a stepson, Douglas Haseltine of Tallahassee, Florida and four nephews. She was born in Halifax County, graduating from Scottsburg High School in 1947 at the age of 16. She was valedictorian of her class and was awarded the scholarship and activities medals for that year. She continued her education at Ferrum College and Pan American School. In Richmond, She met her husband to be, Fred Haseltine. They were able to take many trips and enjoy many happy events together before his sudden death in 1976. Fred's theatre friends continued to welcome her in their activities. She became a generous supporter of the University Players at the University of Richmond and a member of the Charter Associates there. She enjoyed bus trips and lectures at the Virginia Historical Society and special exhibitions at VMFA.
In February of 2022 she had a stroke, which curtailed many of her activities. With the help of her generous neighbors Cary Turpin, Irene Ziegler and Chip Holmes she remained in her home.
