
Anne Norine Thompson Thames of Jackson, MS, died at her residence Sunday, August 5. Norine was 101. She was born in Bay Springs, MS, one of seven children born to Zachary Henderson Thompson and Lottie Bell Thompson. Mrs. Thames graduated from Blue Mountain College in 1932. She married and moved to Jackson in 1936.
She and her family were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Jackson. She lived a selfless life filled with love and laughter, surrounded by her devoted family. Her greatest joy was in her delightful participation in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son Tommy and his wife Suzan of Jackson; her grandchildren: Amanda Tucker and her husband Jody of Atlanta, GA, Caroline Shaul and her husband Roman of Montgomery, AL, and Mary Herschel Thames of Jackson; 5 great grandchildren: Kingsley, Wiley, and John Herschel Tucker of Atlanta; and Anne Kingsley and Isabel Shaul of Montgomery. She also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Mrs. Thames was preceded in death by her husband John Herschel Thames and her great-granddaughter, Lillian Norine Shaul.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Gloria Jones, Tamika Garrett, Katie Pitchford, and Eddie Bracey for the boundless compassion and loving care given to Mrs. Thames for many years.
Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway is in charge of arrangements. Dr. Chuck Poole will officiate at a graveside service Tuesday morning at 11:30a.m.. Visitation will be from 9-11 on Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
