Betty Jean Lacy

Betty Jean Stansbury Lacy, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, with a chapel service immediately following. Burial services will take place at 3:30PM at Tabernacle Camp Ground in Ethelsville, AL.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Paul E. Lacy, and her parents, Ralph and Blanche Stansbury. She is survived by a close loving family including Margaret (Paul) McClelland of Indiana, Scott (Margie) Lacy of Germantown, TN; Elizabeth Lacy Lane of Pearl; Lee (Sarah) Lacy of Germantown, TN; Alicia Lacy Lane of Charlotte, NC; Paul Reed (Jodie) Lacy of Orlando, FL; Jimmy (Peggy) McNees of Tuscumbia, AL; Jeanie McNees of Tuscumbia, AL and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Betty was born and raised in Indiana but spent most of her adult life in Mississippi and Alabama. She was a very active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS, where she was a member of the JOY Singers and the Sanctuary Choir. She was also very active in the Tabitha Dorcas UMW Circle and the Christian Home Builders Sunday School Class.

Betty was an avid golfer, loved to travel, and enjoyed playing cards with friends, family and her Bridge club. She was also very active in civic and community projects in Yazoo City and Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, The Palmer Home for Children in Columbus or donations to Breast Cancer Research.
