It broke my heart to hear this. Chris' heart is now full of pure joy, finally Home with his Savior.

I extend my sincerest sympathies to Chris's family.  I've never known a more selfless, wise, and compassionate person--the gentlest and strongest man I know.  He has forever changed my life, and I just need him to help me through this heartbreaking loss!  May we look to the Lord for strength always, as Chris did.

I’ve been grieving for two days and it still doesn’t feel real. Jacquie and I have known Chris for over twelve years, and I don’t say this lightly, he literally saved our marriage.

This was in the early years of my recovery. Our marriage was fragile. We were trying to rebuild trust after addiction had taken its toll. We were surviving more than thriving. I remember Jacquie coming home talking about a therapist who practiced something called Internal Family Systems. She started speaking in “parts” language and I honestly thought it sounded crazy at first.

But Chris carried that message to us at exactly the right time.

When our protectors were loud and old wounds were being triggered, he gave us language for what was happening inside of us. Self. Managers. Firefighters. Exiles. Blending. Unblending. Burdens. Unburdening. What once felt chaotic started to make sense.

Jacquie would later become Level 3 trained in IFS. Watching Chris work changed both of us. He had a calm, steady presence that embodied compassion. He inspired me to go back to school and earn my master’s degree in addiction and mental health counseling. During that time he would tell me, “You’re going to help so many people, John.” That meant everything coming from him.

After I was brutally attacked at gunpoint four years ago, Chris sat with me in the aftermath of that trauma. He didn’t try to fix me. He just showed up, steady and present.

He wasn’t just a therapist. He was a brother to me. The Lighthouse Healing office will never feel the same without him.

My heart aches. But I know he is with Jesus now, that same warm smile on his face. And if I can borrow his language, all of his parts are finally whole and unburdened.

I love you, brother. Your legacy lives on in our marriage and in every life we help.

Chris was a wonderful person, a generous, godly man, who helped many, including myself.

Chris was the very first person to ever "see" me.  At age 19, I was a wreck.  Chris provided such a safe space for me to finally unload some of the trauma that had been buried for so long.  He was my pastor, my counselor, my friend!! So many memories.  I love you Chris Huff!!!

Dearest Chris. We have been through a lot many years ago but I continued to love and cherish our friendship. I hate hearing that you are no longer on this earth but in the hands of our Lord and Savior. I know Daisy is so glad to see you. You will be missed. You studied so very hard to help others and you did. Bless and comfort your family.

My sweet friend and first therapist. Oh the ways you helped me grow Chris Huff! His legacy will continue to live through all the lives he touched❤️❤️❤️❤️ he was the first person I trusted with all my “stuff” and created safety for me to be the therapist I am today ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 he will be greatly missed !

Chris was an amazing person and counselor. He helped me so very much when my daughter was killed in a car wreck. I only knew him through counseling but am forever in debt to him for the emotional support he taught me. So very sorry for your loss and praying for strength and comfort for your family and friends.

I told Chris I had decided not to go back to school after all. I left that conversation having agreed to at least tour the campus. I think he’s the only person who could have convinced me to go through with it.

He saw good in me and connected me with the good in others — some of my closest friends I met through Chris. He would say, “I just knew you would love ______.” He saw the best in so many people.

I remember smelling cinnamon raisin toast and smiling, because it would always make me think of Chris.
