

Mrs. Colleen Zuga, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2011, at her home in Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 20, at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Clinton with interment in Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland and 9:30–10:30 AM Thursday at the church.
Colleen Frances McGee was born in Warren, Ohio on May 18, 1938 to Florence and Dale McGee. A graduate of Howland High School, she furthered her education at Kent State University where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. On June 11, 1960, Colleen married John E. Zuga and in 1972, they moved their family to Mississippi. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife and caregiver to her husband. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and later Holy Savior Catholic Church where she served as commentator, lector, and Eucharistic minister. She found pleasure in spending time with her family and also in gardening. Colleen touched the lives of many children as an elementary school teacher, teaching kindergarten through first grade at St. Therese Catholic School for many years, as well as the Brookhaven, Mississippi Public School District.
Mrs. Zuga is preceded in death by her parents, and her step-father, Thomas Puegner. She is survived by her husband, Ed Zuga and her children, John E. Zuga Jr. (Rhonda) of Flora, Melissa Z. Cotton of Clinton, Thomas M. Zuga of Jackson, Christopher Zuga of Jackson, Sean Zuga of Jackson, and Ann Marie Castenfelt and her husband Dennis of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Zack Cotton, Ian Castenfelt, and Anna Castenfelt; sisters, Phyllis Willis and Penny Machin; and brother, Lloyd McGee.
The family has requested that memorials be made to St. Therese Catholic School, 309 West McDowell Road, Jackson, MS 39207.
