Floyd "Butch" Plummer

Butch graduated from Manatee High School, Florida, received a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University and a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University.

Butch served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Upon returning to the states, he started his law enforcement career with the West Palm Beach Police Department and then the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department.

In 1979 he joined the FBI as a special Agent. Upon completion of training in Quantico, VA, he was assigned to the Miami, Florida field office and later the Homestead, Fl. Office.

In 1991 Butch was transferred to the Jackson, Mississippi Office and he and his family relocated to Madison, MS. During his time in Jackson, he was awarded Federal Officer of the Year for his work in developing and managing the Violent Crimes Task Force. Butch retired from the FBI after 20 years of service. He joined Integrity International Security and then Regions Bank Corporate Security from which he finally decided to retire!

Butch is survived by his wife of 51 years Lynda, his son Kevin and his daughter Erin Hines (Blake). Also surviving him are his grandchildren Evie Hines (13) who he loved to watch play golf and Ben Hines (7) who he loved watching play baseball, a very special niece Staci Engstrom of Inverness, Florida and a brother Gordon Plummer (Sharon) of Sarasota, Fl, a sister-in-law Sandy Fetta and his life long best friend from kindergarten, Russell Johnson and wife Sandy.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Carine and Wayne Smolensky, and nephew Steven Smolensky.

Visitation will be at Parkway Funeral Home 1161 Highland Colony Parkway Ridgeland, MS 39157 on Monday March 9th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A private burial will take place with full military honors at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS.
