He was born May 15, 1939 in Jackson, MS, to Roy and Mildred Cooper, who preceded him in death.
“Leroy” attending Duling, Bailey, and Murrah High School, where he graduated in 1957. A graduate of Mississippi State University in mechanical engineering, he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
He worked with various engineering firms over the years, the last being Engineering Resource Group, Inc. Professional memberships included ASHRAE.
Leroy was an avid sailor and former member of the Jackson Yacht Club. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and taught motorcycle safety classes for several years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Linda Marler Cooper, his son, David L Cooper (LeAnn) of El Dorado, AK; his daughter, Holly Cooper Turner (Kelvin) and their children, John Cooper, Carson, and Katy Turner of Brandon, MS.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the physicians and staff at St. Dominic Hospital.
Visitation for Leroy will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, with a graveside service immediately following at Lakewood Memorial Park.
