Grace Elizabeth Cox

Mrs. Grace Cox peacefully went to her heavenly home Wednesday Oct. 28, 2015. Mrs. Cox has lived at The Orchard, Ridgeland, MS for the past 11 years where she moved after the passing of her husband, Marvin William Cox in 2004. Previously, she lived with her husband in White Oak, (Smith County) Mississippi.

Born December 29, 1918 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi to Clara and Hulon Hall, Mrs. Cox lived most of her life in her beloved Mississippi. But, being a military wife, she traveled around the United States living at various military bases. In 1969, their Mississippi home was calling them back to White Oak, where they lived until 2004.

Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and seamstress. She loved the creativity of sewing, but her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She also enjoyed serving others through her association with the Eastern Star Organization.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Cox Bozarth,(Roger) Orlando, FL; granddaughters, Stacy Bozarth Bates,(Chris) Madison, MS and Kelly Bozarth Clinger,(Matt) Winter Garden, FL. Mrs. Cox had 6 great-grandchildren; Jonathan Thomas Hontzas (Heather) and Anastasia Kelly Hontzas of Madison, MS; William Anthony Hontzas, Colorado Springs, CO; Anna Catherine Bates, Madison, MS; also Evin Elizabeth Clinger and Logan Matthew Clinger, Winter Garden, FL.

For the past 10 years, Mrs. Cox’s caretakers were many of the kind and wonderful staff of The Orchard in Ridgeland, MS. She had a special affection for one in particular, Shirley Jackson. Shirley was like another daughter to her and the family would like to say a special “thank you” to Shirley for the loving care she gave to Mrs. Cox in her final years.

After surviving a stroke in 2014, it was difficult for Mrs. Cox to speak clearly. However, there was one phrase that she could say very clearly and that was, “I love you, too”. We were all blessed by her humor, kindness, and love.

Graveside services will be held Friday October 30,2015 at 10:00am at Rosemont Memorial Gardens Jackson, MS. Parkway Funeral Home Ridgeland MS is in charge of the arrangements.
