Harry Clifford Hyslop Jr., 82, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on January 13th, 2026. Harry was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on September 1st, 1943, to Eva and Harry Hyslop Sr. He was a proud Walnut Ridge Bobcat and played on the varsity football and basketball teams where he earned his nickname "Hog". He attended Arkansas State University and earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1965. However, his most important achievement at Arkansas State was finding the love of his life, Pamela Matlock. They were married on March 13th, 1965.
Harry worked in the banking industry in Memphis, Tennessee before being blessed with an opportunity to move to Mississippi in 1981 and become the Assistant Investments Manager at Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company. His career flourished at Farm Bureau, and he was elected to be Vice President of Investments in 1995, which he recalled as his proudest professional accomplishment. He retired from the company he loved in 2009.
Throughout his life, Harry enjoyed hobbies such as target shooting, firearm maintenance, and following the Arkansas Razorbacks sports teams. He loved Elvis Presley's music and many trips in the family station wagon were unfortunate displays of his Elvis 8-track tapes and singing ability. But who he valued most was his beloved wife, Pam, his three children, and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
When asked what he hoped others had learned from him, he said it was to be dependable, to keep your word, and to be a good friend. The greatest testament that could be made to those truths about him has been the outpouring of love from people of all walks and all eras of his life. He was earnest and genuine with everyone, and many professional relationships turned into lifelong personal friendships.
Harry is survived by his wife, Pam, his daughters Angela Meadows (Steve) of Spanish Fort, AL, Alicia Black of Topsham, ME, and his son Cliff (Loria) of Brandon; also three grandchildren, Daniel (Kelli), David, and Jack. He was predeceased by his parents.
Services will be held at First Ridgeland Baptist Church in Ridgeland, MS on January 20th. Visitation will start at 9:30am with the service to follow at 11:00am. A private graveside service will be held afterwards.
