James was born in McKinney, Texas on June 12, 1934 to Goldie and Weldon Wheatley. He graduated from Grapevine High School and earned a graduate degree from North Texas State University.
James was happily married to Martha Nell Bergvall for over 69 years. They had two children; Scott Wheatley and Lee Wheatley. James worked as an electrical manufacturer’s sales representative for over 60 years. He was a founding member of Highland Colony Baptist Church. His passions were teaching the Bible, Bible Prophecy, and serving in all capacities in his church.
James is survived by his two sons, Scott and Lee (Judy). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Shelby, Ross, Christopher, Bryce, Mary Katherine, and Will. Surviving great grandchildren include: John Walker, Charlie, Archer, and Tait.
James is preceded in death by his parents Weldon and Goldie Wheatley.
A graveside service will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on April 24, 2025 at 3pm.
