10 September, 1939 – 9 June, 2021
Janice Faye Blumenthal, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. She was 81 years young, and departed this world having made it a better place. Janice is survived by her husband of almost more than 62 years, Bernard (Bud) Blumenthal; twin sister, Judy Blumberg of Trenton, NJ; her sons Daniel and David Blumenthal (Tara); daughter, Susan Blumenthal; and two grandchildren, Jack Blumenthal and Noah Hood. Janice as predeceased by her youngest son, Jonathan Blumenthal, and older brother, Carl Davidson. Janice was born on September 10, 1939 in Trenton, NJ, to Pearl and Jack Davidson. She and her husband, who were high school sweethearts, married in 1959 and moved to Jackson where she graduated with a degree in biology from Millsaps College in 1961. They returned to Jackson in 1972, where they lived and raised their family until her passing. Janice lived a full life. Family came first. She was a devoted mother who adored her children, and above all treasured her grandchildren. She opened her heart and her home to the multitude of her children’s friends, always being the first to invite them to dinner (promptly served at 6pm). The Blumenthal household rightfully earned the nickname of “Grand Central Station”, and everyone was welcome. Janice loved fashion and design, spending time over the years working in women’s retail and redesigning her home room by room. Her impeccable taste often made her the go-to person for design advice, which she shared willingly. Janice died the way she lived—with strength, courage, and beauty. Graveside services will be 1:00pm Friday June 11, 2021 at Beth Israel Cemetery in Jackson.

Janice was my Dad's first cousin and I was blessed to get to know her and spend time with her over the years, most recently at my nephew Zachary's wedding in St. Louis (5 years ago). We spoke more recently when her brother Carl passed away.
I always enjoyed being with Janice -- she was a beautiful soul, inside and out. Warm, funny, smart and graceful. I'm sure she will be missed terribly by her immediate family but also by her extended family. RIP Janice. My thoughts are with Buddy and her kids and grandkids.
