Kyle Cleveland Clayton, 48, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 24, 2024, in Flowood, Mississippi. Born on December 13, 1975, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Kyle was a cherished member of his community and a loving father, husband, and son.
Kyle graduated from St. Johns Episcopal School and R.H. Watkins High School before adventuring off to the University of Mississippi where he pledged Kappa Alpha Order and had a really fun time which, in part, led to his return to Mississippi College in Clinton. He was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Laurel and Lakeland Presbyterian Church in Flowood. He stayed true to his Episcopal acolyte roots by saying "trespasses" rather than "debtors" during the Lord's Prayer, typically in dramatic fashion for all to hear.
Kyle was known for his deep love for his family, which was at the heart of all his endeavors. He enjoyed driving First Pres and Jackson Prep carpool, a simple pleasure that allowed him to spend time with his children's friends and share in their daily lives. His interests included military history and politics, subjects he could discuss with keen insight and fervor. Kyle also found relaxation in watching reruns of Seinfeld, The Office, Everyone Loves Raymond and his beloved Golden Girls. He enjoyed all genres of music, but Elvis was his all-time favorite even adopting his rendition of "I Did it My Way" as his life's mantra.
Kyle is survived by his wife of more than twenty years, Paige; children, Elizabeth Haze and Grayson Kyle; mother, Cynthia McNamara; father, Gary Clayton (Delecia); grandmother, Ellie Clayton; in-laws, Ricky and Linda Black; sister-in-law, Taylor Clayton; and nieces, Caroline, Anna Cooper, and Vivi Kate. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Ray McNamara, grandparents E.V. (Buddy) Cleveland, Ladye Kathryn Roberts, and James Milner Clayton and his brother, best friend and partner in crime Andrew Cooper Clayton.
Services will be held at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS, on Sunday, July 28th. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with the service following immediately at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Clayton Children Education Fund at 100 Primos Road, Flowood, MS 39232, Acct: 82186776.
