Dear David, John and Glenn, 
For the past 19 years, I have had the privilege of having your mother for a friend.  We had so many good times together as I visited her at St. Catherine's.  One of the things that was special to me was that she would be so interested in my family. She would amaze me at how she remembered everything I told her and follow-up on events, etc.  I also loved hearing about her family and the accomplishments of her grandchildren, particularly.  She was a lovely lady and I already miss her, especially when I am at St. Catherine's.  I will always cherish her memory.

David, John, and Glenn, and your offspring :
     I was saddened to learn of your Mom's passing, just this morning.  She was always very sweet to me and Charlotte, Wendy, and Gilbert while we were growing up (your Dad too, of course).  Her patience and calm dealing with me (and you guys) when we were younger was incredible - and always tempered with the ladylike way she held her composure under the most trying circumstances.  She will always be remembered as the great, smiling kind Mom she was; a lovely lady.
     My heart and thoughts are with you brothers.  Peace, Love, and Understanding.

I don't know if I remember your mother's superior home skills, her kindness, or her peaceful demeanor the best.  I do recall what a wonderful and devoted daughter she was to my Great Aunt Mae.  I do recall her suffering from other family tragedies, yet rejoicing in a gathering of family members. She was a beautiful and charming lady for whom I tried to model my behavior.  Leela Frances set the standard for loveliness. 
 Now, if I had only half that charm... 
  Well, at least all you of you guys got it!

I had the privilege to sit with Happy some during her years at St. Catherine's.  She was a sharp lady and knew her local politics and what was going on in MS.  She might not have gotten out much but she enjoyed watching and reading the news.  She also enjoyed having a lively debate or two when she could get you going. I appreciate my time with her and getting to know her.

David, John and Glen and family.  You all have our deepest sympathy on the death of  your mother Lela Frances.  The wonderful pictures of her life brought back many fond memories of your mother while she and her siblings were growing up in Greenwood with their mother Mae.  I enjoyed the time I spent visiting them as a child in Greenwood.   I remember Lela who grew up to be  the Millsaps  beauty .  She was a wonderful person and we will miss her.
