

Margie was born September 13, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Central High School in Memphis in 1955. She attended the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
On September 1, 1957, Margie married the love of her life, Gordon Byron Ferguson. The couple were married in Memphis, Tennessee, and later moved to Meridian, Mississippi. In 1966 they moved to Jackson, Mississippi where they made their home for their family of six.
Margie grew up dancing, singing, and playing piano. She held many titles during her pageantry days including Miss Model, Miss Marine Air Reserve, and Second Runner-up to Miss Tennessee in 1956. Her children always enjoyed gathering at the piano and listening to her play, especially on special occasions. Margie was the ultimate hostess to family and friends. She enjoyed a full house.
Margie had been a member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1966 where she had been an active member in the ladies activities. She volunteered in the nursery, taught pre-school, and kindergarten. She was also active in her Rollingwood Beautiful Association where she served five terms on the Board of Directors. She volunteered many hours at St. Dominic’s Hospital as a Pink Lady. She was a life-long member of the Mississippi Burn Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Ferguson, father and mother, William Audrey and Etoyle Fisher Reames of Memphis, and brother Gary Reames, also of Memphis.
She is survived by her four children, Byron Todd Ferguson of Ridgeland, Mississippi; Toya Ferguson Gayle of Madison, Mississippi; Felecia Ferguson Crumpton (Bob) of Jackson, Mississippi; and Gary Gordon “G.G.” Ferguson (B) also of Jackson. She was “Mum” to seven grandchildren, Johnathon Gayle, Will Gordon Ferguson, Alex Ferguson, Rosemary Ferguson, Kelly Crumpton, Margie Crumpton, and Caroline Crumpton.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 15 at Christ United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service in the Great Hall at Christ United.
