
Mavis Mae Stacy, age 93, died April 23, 2013 peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Jackson. Born January 21, 1920 in Monette, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late James C. and Ollie Williams. Morgan and Julia Munday were her foster parents.
She was the widow of the late Tatum R. Stacy, mother of the late Donald Reagan Stacy of Atlanta, GA, of Julia M. Stacy of Jackson, MS, and Morgan Bruce Stacy of Hattiesburg, Miss. The grandmother of Michael Kennedy Stacy of Phoenix, Arizona, the late Justin Dietrich Stacy of Chicago, Jeremy Christopher Stacy of Los Angeles, CA, Lydia Reagan Owen Stacy of Canterbury, New Hampshire: and great-grandmother of Tatum Zerveskes of New Hampshire.
She is survived by her sisters Fay Reed of San Benito, Texas and Judy Waymire of Fort Worth, TX.
She graduated from high school in Ft. Worth, Texas; did college coursework at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. She moved to Jackson in 1956 and had lived here ever since. She was an active and devoted church member, she became a member of the then Central Church of Christ in Jackson in 1956 and became a founding member of Meadowbrook Church of Christ in Jackson when it was founded Easter of 1962.
She was a woman of compelling devotion to her family, whose love, strength, and dedication provided an example to all who knew her. She met challenges and setbacks with enduring love and support. She was known for her gracious home entertaining. She greatly enjoyed a late vocation in the oil industry, for which she displayed a remarkable ability.
Visitation will be 3-5pm Sunday April 28, 2013 and 10-11am Monday April 29, 2013 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland. Services will be 11:00am Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
