Melinda L. Wilkinson

Melinda was born in Hattiesburg, MS on November 30, 1956. She attended Hattiesburg High School and was graduated in 1974. After high school she attended Mississippi State University where she would meet the love of her life.

After college she married Louis Wilkinson Jr. on January 28, 1978 who was truly the love of her life. They had two children Louis Wilkinson III and Ashley Wilkinson Kinard. She was a realtor for many years and after that she was a devoted employee at The Bridal Registry at Batte. Her hobbies were traveling abroad, cooking and being the greatest mother in the world. She was a member of the Junior League for many years, Christ United Methodist Church and always helping with any volunteer effort she could. She was always smiling and very loving of all around her. She loved her job at Batte helping brides assemble their registries as she had a great love of fine china and silver.

Melinda is survived by her parents Bennie and Barbara Sellers, her sister Melanie Garner (O.V.), her brother B.J. Sellers (Kathy), her son Louis Wilkinson III (Kelly), her daughter Ashley Wilkinson Kinard (Kirk), her grandchildren June Sellers Kinard (3), Louis Simpson Wilkinson IV (2), Georgia Manning Kinard (1), Helen Frances Wilkinson (4 mos) and a host of other family and wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years Louis Wilkinson Jr. and her in-laws whom she greatly loved Louis and Bernice Wilkinson.

While she enjoyed her time here and lived life to the fullest she greatly missed her husband upon his death. Her wonderful grandchildren brought her lots of joy and we are thankful that she was able to enjoy them. We do rejoice in knowing that there has been a glorious reunion in heaven as she is with Louis once again. We will miss her loving spirit, enthusiasm for life and her ever present smile. She was a great cheerleader to her children through life and always encouraging. We wish to thank all of her wonderful friends for their friendship to her, her family at Batte for all of their support and thanks to the wonderful doctors at UMC for your care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on October 4 at 11:00 with visitation before beginning at 10:00. Visitation for Melinda will be held at Christ United on October 3 from 4:00-6:00. Memorial donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, Blair E. Batson hospital for children or the charity of your choosing. Again we give thanks.
