Mildred Kirk Crosby, 84, passed away at St. Catherine’s Village on July 21, 2014. Visitation will be 10:00am Wednesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Pkwy. in Ridgeland. Services will be at 11:00am. Burial will be at Jarnigan Cemetery in Morristown, Tn.
She was married to R.C. Crosby for 52 years. She grew up in Morristown and went to work at “the Phone Company” as an operator. R.C. was working there and after dating at several UT football games they were married. In 1962 they moved to Jackson, where she held several positions and forged lifelong friendships at South Central Bell.
A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always up for some fun. She would rally her friends to get involved in whatever she wanted to get into. Loving and caring came so natural for her that she never let anyone know they were anything but the most important person in the world. You could always tell Middie was around by her infectious laughter. She and R.C. loved to dance and had great times at Brookwood Country Club.
She will be greatly missed by so many and as she would say “I’m hanging up now”. She is preceded in death by her husband R. C. She is survived by her brother Jim Kirk (Biddie) of Ocala, Fl. Sons, Rod Crosby (Susan) and Tommy Crosby (Nancy) and their children Christy Clayton (John Andrew Clayton), Alex Crosby (Lenzie) and many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Dr. Larry Hartman, cousin Jamie Hartman for such great care when she had a brain tumor in “09. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Catherine’s and Kelly w/Gentiva Hospice for their unwavering love and devotion to our mother.
