Patsy LaTrelle Wright Jones was born July 27, 1929 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Her family moved soon after to Hollandale, MS. Patsy enjoyed her early years living in Hollandale. She began her love of music at a young age with piano lessons, dance lessons, and singing in the choir at church. In high school, she was active in many activities including being a cheerleader and majorette.
After high school graduation, Patsy began her first year of college at Belhaven College. The next year she transferred to the University of Mississippi to pursue a degree in Music Education. While there, she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.
In 1951, Patsy married her high school sweetheart, Charley Mac Jones. They began their life together in Oxford before moving to Schlater, MS. Their first daughter was born while living there and they moved shortly after to Memphis where their second daughter was born. They later moved to Jackson, MS where they lived for many years.
Patsy’s love for her Lord Jesus, music, church, family, and friends was the main focus of her life. She shared her musical talent by singing in the church choir, playing the piano for school programs, and was preschool music teacher at her church, Wesley Methodist in Jackson.
After living in Jackson, she and her husband moved back to Schlater. Once again, she became very active in church and social activities of the community.
In 2006, Patsy and her husband moved to Sunnybrook Estates in Madison. She enjoyed the many new friends and activities during her years there. At this time, she became active again with St. Matthews United Methodist Church.
After health problems in 2014 and the loss of her vision, she moved to Highland Home in Ridgeland. Despite her health problems, she continued to enjoy new friends and activities while there.
Patsy’s love for her family and friends was always evident. Her love for her husband, daughters, son-in-laws, grandsons, and great grandchildren was immeasurable. She displayed Christian love at its best and her beautiful smile shined the light of Jesus.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Mac Jones and her parents, James Arthur Wright and Irene Woodruff Wright Hicks.
