1942 to Ralph and Anna Rae Lumb. He attended Murrah High School
and upon graduation in 1960 he attended Mississippi State where he
majored in Business Management. While at Mississippi State he was an
active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and was in ROTC.
Upon graduation from Mississippi State in 1964 he was commissioned
as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Signal Corps
School at Ft. Gorgon near Augusta, Georgia.
At the completion of his duty in the Army, he accepted a position with
IBM in Nashville, TN. Eventually he was promoted to their Washington,
D.C. office to represent the company to the U.S. Congress and Executive
Branch of the U.S. Government. After working for IBM for 16 years
Randy accepted an executive position AT&T for twelve years where
Randy was fundamental in assisting the company as it transitioned from
a nationally regulated utility company to an independent, competitive
information technology corporation. He later went on to be the
Executive VP of PECO and eventually retired in Beaufort, SC.
Randy has been a resident of Atlanta, where his children live, for the last
few years while he courageously fought Parkinson’s disease.
Randy traveled extensively throughout the world during his life.
Besides traveling, Randy enjoyed blue water, boating, deep-sea fishing,
gardening, golfing, dogs and Mississippi State Football.
Randy is survived by his son and daughter: James Lumb (Kellie) and
Ashley Lumb Deck and his four grandchildren: Foster Deck, Sophia
Deck, Eloise Lumb and Camille Lumb.
