

Robert Allan DeVille, 69, passed away on January 28, 2014 at his home in Ridgeland. Visitation for Mr. DeVille will be at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Matthews United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11:00am with Visitation starting at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Jessamine Cemetery.
Mr. Deville was born in Corpus Christi, TX on October 17, 1944 to Herman and Lula DeVille. He attended Falfurrias High School and after graduating joined the United States Army. After leaving the Army he attended Texas Tech University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He then went on to receive a Masters from The University of El Paso and entered the PHD Program at Tulane University. In 1975 he started work at the RND Center as a part of Economic Development. At the age of 33 attended Millsap’s College for his prerequisites for Dental School and then University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1985. After practicing in Ridgeland for many years He joined the UMMC as an Associate Professor until his retirement. Mr. DeVille was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church and an adult leader for the Boy scouts of America. He was a very skilled wood worker and an avid volunteer at St. Dominic’s and Hospice in Ridgeland.
Mr. DeVille was preceded in death by his parents Herman DeVille and Lula Mae Smith. He is survived by his wife Kay DeVille; son Chris DeVille (Alisha); grandchildren Abby, Julia and Natalie and sister Lyn Cariker (Floyd).
