Robert (R.C.) George, age 95, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 28. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 30, 5:00-7:00 pm, in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Church Madison. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Madison with Dr. Ronnie Falvey and Rev. Chris Kinsley officiating.
The first of six children born to Robert and Nellie George, Robert was born on May 26, 1928, in Meridian, MS. He attended Central High School and then served for 4 years in the Aleutian Islands as an air traffic controller. He then worked at Knox Glass Company and soon began his 40 year career with BellSouth. When working at Knox Glass he met the love of his life, his bride Sarah, and they began their 73 years of marriage. Their family grew with the addition of Teresa, Robert, and Wanda, and they were actively involved in the ministries of Alta Woods Baptist Church. In their retirement, Robert and Sara moved to Madison and were active members of First Baptist Church, Madison. During Robert’s involvement in both Alta Woods Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Madison, he served as a Deacon for 40+ years and also enjoyed teaching Sunday School, serving on various church committees, and volunteering as a greeter. Robert also enjoyed working in his yard and garden, and spending time with his family.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nellie George, daughter Teresa Kinsley, and siblings Wallace George, Helen Brown, Julia George, and Alene McNeese.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; children: Robert George (Lisa) and Wanda Kinsley (Greg); son-in-law: Steve Kinsley (Kate); and grandchildren: Chris Kinsley (Liza), Kim Wantling (Andrew), Craig Kinsley, Alfie Kinsley, Josh Kinsley (Dana), Meagan Adcock (Benjamin), Abby George; and great grandchildren: Story Kinsley, Haven Kinsley, Piper Kinsley, Brayden Graham, Joseph Wantling, Lyla Kinsley, Faith Kinsley, Scott Adcock and Kinsley Adcock; and his brother, Alan George, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Vonn Ross, Dr. Gene Loper, and Arden Hospice for their compassionate care of Robert. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, 2100 Main Street, Madison, MS 39110.
