Rosa taught elementary school for 30 years, teaching every elementary grade but the 2nd grade. She retired in 2001 from her last school, Isabel Elementary. She was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a sorority of educators, holding many offices including president of her local chapter. She attended local, state and national conventions.
After retiring from teaching, Rosa began her 2nd career working in the preschool ministry at First Baptist Church, the church she attended for most of her life. She organized Vacation Bible School crafts, the Pops and Princesses Brunch, and Sunday morning activities. She retired from her 2nd career in 2011.
Rosa found great joy in the Koinonia Sunday School Class, interacting with other ladies and developing new friendships. She especially enjoyed class activities that included eating out and visiting in each other’s homes.
Rosa, affectionately named RoRo by her nephews, is survived by her brother, Johnny Jones and his wife Jean; her nephew Brad Jones and his wife Rebecca and their children, Jon Colin and Aubrey and her nephew Davis Jones and his wife Kathy and their children Mikayla and Kacyn Grace. RoRo enjoyed the activities of her family including trips to Disney World, soccer games and ballet recitals.
The family will remain forever indebted to Shermena Roberts and Annette Jefferson, whose care and tending of their precious RoRo resulted in a devoted friendship that enriched the entire family.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at First Baptist Church Jackson, with a funeral service held at 2:30. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.
To honor Rosa Lynn’s long time support of missions, the family requests memorials be made to the Lottie Moon World Missions in care of First Baptist Church Jackson.
