Rosemary Moore Seago departed this world to join her Savior on the evening of August 21, 2024. A beloved and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, Rosemary was born to Maurice Paul and Annie Louise Fant Moore on March 4, 1943. She was blessed with a wonderful childhood in Senatobia, MS, where she spent her time at their home on College Street and on her father’s renowned cattle ranch, CMR. During her senior year at Senatobia High School, she began dating Donald Seago, a young man who would prove to be the love of her life. She attended the Mississippi University for Women and later Ole Miss where she earned her degree in education and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. During this time, she was selected to represent Senatobia as Lady of the Realm in the Royal Court of the Cotton Carnival in Memphis.
She and Donald continued their relationship while he studied at Mississippi State and then at the University of Tennessee Dental School. The two were married in 1965. After their marriage, Rosemary became a model Bulldog fan for 364 days a year. On that 365th day, she did eventually learn to cheer for both her Rebels and the Bulldogs at the Egg Bowl, wearing all black. The young couple moved to Jackson in the early 1970s to establish Donald’s oral surgery practice and they welcomed four sons into their family. Rosemary, the ultimate extrovert, quickly established numerous deep friendships in the community that would last her lifetime. Her gift and passion was serving others, and she found many ways to share that gift with the world. She was a member of the Junior League of Jackson and loved teaching missions to GA’s at First Baptist Jackson for years. She also took countless meals and floral arrangements to her friends in their respective moments of need. No one but God knows how often she would quietly meet a material need for a friend, and she never sought praise for doing so.
Rosemary’s highest calling in life was her unwavering dedication to creating a remarkable home environment for her family after her son Andrew suffered an injury that left him as a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic at a young age. She and Donald drew strength from their faith in God and from each other to create an extraordinary home for their children. She had high expectations for all of her boys to lead deliberate lives full of meaningful achievements and to strive for joy while doing so. Despite the obstacles they faced every day, theirs was a home filled with laughter and fun, with Rosemary often serving as a catalyst for creating the humor. After Andrew’s injury, Rosemary and Donald would minister to others in similar circumstances by sharing the love of God and the coping skills they learned through their own journey. Rosemary shared often that the Bible verse that ministered to her heart throughout Andrew’s injury was Psalm 3:3: “but thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. Donald Seago, and her son Thomas Andrew Seago.
She is survived by her sons Dr. Paul Seago (Gail), Lee Seago (Gina), Dr. David Seago (Stacy) and her grandchildren Katelyn, Stephen, Peyton, Timothy, Bryant, Anna Claire, Mary Grace, Ellie and Annie Lou, and her sisters Louise Moore McKeller (Walter) and Lucille Moore Brewer (Jim).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Dr. Donald L. Seago Memorial Healthcare
Endowed Scholarship (502202) at the Mississippi State University Foundation or the St. Dominic’s
