

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at First Baptist Church Madison, 2100 Main St., Madison. Visitation will be 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m., with burial at Parkway Cemetery.
Tom Pope was born Nov. 14, 1951, in Jackson. He graduated from Murrah High School in 1969 and Mississippi State University in 1973. While he attended Mississippi State University he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He also served in the Mississippi Air National Guard. Tom was a well known and respected real estate appraiser and partner for the Appraisal Group.
Tom never met a stranger in his life. He was an energetic, selfless, outgoing loyal person who loved and lived life to its fullest. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. Tom took pride in putting passion of the outdoors in every soul
he was around. He especially loved teaching and mentoring his son, Travis, through his entire life. Tom had so many friends and touched so many lives through his 64 years. “May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.”
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Jerry Pope, and his nephew, Scott Hendrix. Survivors include his son, Travis Pope; sisters Virginia McNeece (Don) of Brandon and Dianne Layton (Tommy) of Daphne, Ala.; nieces, April Davis (John) and Audrey Goolsby (Matt); nephew, Josh Layton; and his extended family Anne (Sweetie), Sam and daughter Clancy Piazza.
Serving as pallbearers are Andy Maxwell, Glyn (Boy) Porter, Buddy Mitcham, Billy Denny, Sam Piazza, Vincent Coleman, Bill Harvey and Hugh McWhorter.
