William Bartlett “Bill” Allison, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, June 9, 2014. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12, at St. Richard’s Catholic Church, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Bill was born in Meridian, MS on Nov. 14, 1926 to William B., Sr. and Alice Allison. After graduating from Meridian High School, he joined the U.S. Navy, and then continued his education at Tulane University. Once he received his Bachelor’s Degree, Bill began his career at F. W. Williams State Agency, where he worked diligently for almost 40 years, before retiring in 1994.
In 1953, Bill married Avenelle Harrington and together they raised one son, who predeceased him, but not before bringing three grandchildren into the family. Bill was also an Active Communicate of St. Richard’s Catholic Church and served as a member of the Catholic Foundation.
Bill is survived by his wife, Avenelle Allison, and grandchildren, Dr. Patrick Allison, David Allison, Jr., and Gwyndolyn Allison Bynum.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, David Allison, Sr., and his sister, Alice Felton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Richard’s Catholic Church.
