William Walker Ayer, Jr., 89, passed away Tuesday February 28, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital, with his family and friends by his side. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday March 2, 2012, preceded by visitation at 12 Noon at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Pkwy., in Ridgeland. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
He was born September 19, 1925 in Atlanta, TX, to William W. Ayer, Sr. and Jessie Fleming Ayer. He was a retired Major in the US Air Force, having served as a bomber pilot in WWII and later as a pilot instructor during the Korean Conflict. He later served many VA Hospitals as their engineer.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha; nephews, Mike Ayer of Lake Charles, LA, Neal Spencer of Dallas, TX, Darrell Spencer of Lake Charles, LA and Gary Ayer of Dallas, TX; and niece Margie Lee of Louisiana.
